PARIS — The Paris Musketeers, a prominent American football team in France, made headlines on Friday by appointing Jack Del Rio as their new head coach.
The Musketeers hold the distinction of being the sole French representative in the European League. Their home matches take place at the Stade Jean Bouin, which has the capacity to host 19,500 spectators and is situated directly across from the renowned stadium of soccer club Paris Saint-Germain.
In an announcement shared on X, the club expressed its excitement, stating, “We are proud to announce that NFL legend Jack Del Rio is the new head coach of the Paris Musketeers,” accompanied by a rundown of his impressive career accomplishments.
At 61, Del Rio has an extensive background in professional football, having previously led the NFL teams Jacksonville Jaguars and Oakland Raiders. Over his 12-year coaching career in the NFL, he recorded a career record of 93 wins and 94 losses, with coaching assignments spanning from 2003 to 2011 at the Jaguars and then from 2015 to 2017 with the Raiders. Prior to his coaching career, he was a linebacker in the NFL from 1985 to 1995, showcasing his talent after a successful college football tenure at Southern California.
Del Rio’s career has not been without its challenges—as he recently stepped down from a role as a senior adviser on Wisconsin’s coaching staff following an arrest near the campus for driving under the influence. Before his time in Wisconsin, he had spent four years serving as the defensive coordinator for the Washington Commanders.
As the Paris Musketeers look to enhance their performance in the European League under Del Rio’s leadership, fans are eager to see how his experience and coaching style will influence the team’s future.
