Freddy Hicks contributed significantly to Tarleton State’s victory over Cal Baptist, scoring 15 points in a 67-57 match on Thursday evening.
Hicks had an efficient performance, making 3 of 6 attempts from the field and excelling at the free-throw line, where he converted 9 of 14 attempts. The Texans improved their season record to 8-11, with a conference standing of 3-1 in the Western Athletic Conference. Dantwan Grimes also had a notable game, scoring 13 points despite a 2 for 7 shooting performance, including making all 8 of his free throws. Chris Mpaka added to the team’s effort with 11 points, shooting 5 of 7 from the field.

On the opposing side, the Cal Baptist Lancers, now with a record of 8-9 and 1-2 in conference play, were led by Dominique Daniels Jr., who netted 19 points. Martel Williams chipped in with 16 points and two steals, while Kendal Coleman contributed further with eight points, nine rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.

Looking ahead, both teams are scheduled for their next games on Saturday. Tarleton State will head to Grand Canyon, while Cal Baptist will travel to face off against Abilene Christian.
