Tucker scores 16 points to lead Longwood past High Point 82-80

— On a thrilling Thursday night, Elijah Tucker contributed significantly to Longwood’s victory over High Point, scoring 16 points in a closely contested game that ended 82-80.

Tucker also gathered five rebounds for the Lancers, who are now 14-6 overall and hold a 3-2 record in the Big South Conference. Colby Garland was another standout player, racking up 13 points while connecting on 3 of 10 attempts from the field and successfully hitting 7 of 10 from the charity stripe. In addition to his scoring, Garland contributed seven rebounds and six assists to the team’s effort. Angelo Brizzi had an impressive outing as well, finishing with 13 points by shooting 4 of 6 overall, including an effective 3 for 5 from beyond the arc, and completing 2 of 4 free throws.

For the Panthers, who now stand at 15-5 with a matching 3-2 conference record, Kezza Giffa was the leading scorer, tallying 18 points. Chase Johnston contributed 12 points along with a pair of steals, while Simon Hildebrandt chipped in with 11 points.

Looking ahead, Longwood is set to compete against Radford in an away game on Wednesday, whereas High Point will return home to face Presbyterian this coming Saturday.
