Xavier Brown contributed significantly to the victory for James Madison, scoring 13 points as the Dukes emerged victorious over Marshall with a final score of 67-64 on Thursday evening.
Brown’s performance included hitting 5 of 12 shots from the floor and sinking 3 of 7 from beyond the arc. His efforts came alongside Elijah Hutchins-Everett, who recorded 12 points and secured seven rebounds for the Dukes, while Bryce Lindsay added 10 points to the tally, shooting 4 of 9 and also grabbing seven rebounds.
On the other side, the Thundering Herd saw Jalen Speer lead the charge with 20 points, along with two steals. Mikal Dawson made a notable impact as well, contributing 15 points, pulling down six rebounds, and collecting three steals. Obinna Anochili-Killen also made his mark with a double-double, tallying 12 points and 11 rebounds for Marshall.
Looking ahead, both James Madison and Marshall are set to play again on Saturday. The Dukes will entertain Appalachian State, while the Thundering Herd will hit the road to face Coastal Carolina.
