BURLINGTON, Vt. — In a thrilling encounter on Thursday night, Vermont triumphed over Binghamton with a score of 72-64, largely thanks to TJ Hurley’s impressive performance, where he scored 26 points.
Hurley demonstrated his shooting prowess, hitting 9 of 16 attempts, including 4 of 8 from beyond the arc, and was perfect from the charity stripe, going 4 for 4, which helped the Catamounts improve their record to 10-9 overall and 3-1 within the America East Conference.
Shamir Bogues also contributed significantly to the team’s victory with a commendable 16 points, converting 7 of 12 shots, along with 5 rebounds and an impressive 7 steals. Nick Fiorillo added to the scoring, finishing with 15 points on 5 of 8 shooting, including 3 of 5 from three-point range.
On the other side of the court, Binghamton, now at 9-10 with a 1-3 conference record, saw Tymu Chenery lead the way with 20 points, complemented by six rebounds and four assists. Additionally, Ben Callahan-Gold contributed 14 points, while Gavin Walsh finished the game with 11 points, 7 rebounds, and two blocks.
Looking ahead, Vermont will be aiming to build on this victory as they prepare to face NJIT at home on Thursday. Meanwhile, Binghamton will look to bounce back when they take on Albany (NY) this coming Saturday.
