MONROE, La. — In a decisive matchup on Wednesday night, Troy triumphed over UL Monroe with a score of 77-58, thanks in large part to Thomas Dowd’s impressive performance, scoring 16 points.
Dowd also contributed significantly on the boards, securing nine rebounds for the Trojans, who now hold a record of 11 wins and 6 losses, alongside a 4-2 tally in the Sun Belt Conference.
Meanwhile, Cooper Campbell was another key player for Troy, scoring 16 points from 7 of 13 shooting, including 2 of 6 from three-point range.
Kerrington Kiel added to the team’s efforts with 10 points, making 4 of 10 attempts and hitting 2 of 5 from beyond the arc, while also grabbing 10 rebounds.
Coltie Young was the standout for the Warhawks, leading his team with 16 points.
Jacob Wilson also played a vital role for UL Monroe, matching Young’s scoring total with 16 points and contributing two steals.
Tyreese Watson supported the effort with 14 points, alongside five assists and two steals. Unfortunately for the Warhawks, this defeat marked their eighth consecutive loss, leaving them at 4-15 overall and still searching for a win in the conference, currently sitting at 0-6.
Looking ahead, both teams will take the court again on Saturday.
Troy is set to face South Alabama, while UL Monroe will host Louisiana at home.
