MUNICH — Bayern Munich has officially welcomed 18-year-old American attacking midfielder Bajung Darboe to their squad, having signed him from LAFC.
Darboe has entered into a “long-term contract” and will be initially placed in Bayern’s reserve team, as announced by the German club on Wednesday.
Expressing his excitement, Darboe shared, “A big dream has come true for me. It’s nice to see where my path has taken me. It was always a big wish of mine to pull on the shirt of this great club one day. The fact it’s happened now fills me with a lot of pride. I’m still battling jet lag but otherwise I feel good and ready to get started.”
Hailing from Gambia, Darboe has previously made two appearances for the United States under-17 national team. In terms of club experience, he has developed his skills at the reserve teams of both LAFC and the Philadelphia Union.
The collaboration between Bayern Munich and LAFC exists through their partnership under the Red&Gold Football brand, with an emphasis on nurturing young talent.
