Thairo Estrada has signed a one-year contract with the Colorado Rockies that secures him a guaranteed $4 million, with the potential to earn an additional $750,000 through performance bonuses.

The agreement, made public on January 9, includes a base salary of $3.25 million and features a mutual option for 2026 valued at $7 million, accompanied by a $750,000 buyout clause.

Estrada can earn bonuses of $250,000 for reaching 450, 500, and 550 plate appearances throughout the season. Moreover, he is entitled to a hotel suite during road games.

Over the last three seasons, the 28-year-old player primarily filled the role of second baseman, reporting a batting average of .217, along with nine home runs and 47 RBIs last season with the San Francisco Giants. Following a demotion to Triple-A Sacramento on August 30, he opted for free agency on October 1, exercising his right after accruing over three years of experience in Major League Baseball.

In his career spanning parts of six seasons with the New York Yankees (2019-2020) and the Giants (2021-2024), Estrada holds a batting average of .251, contributing 48 home runs, 195 RBIs, and 52 stolen bases across 469 games.

Besides his primary position, Estrada has experience playing shortstop, third base, and all outfield positions.

For his performance, he could secure various bonuses, such as $50,000 for being selected to the All-Star team or earning a Gold Glove Award, $50,000 for a Silver Slugger Award, $75,000 for being named MVP of the League Championship Series, and $100,000 for accolades such as Comeback Player of the Year or World Series MVP.

Additionally, should he receive the MVP title, he stands to gain $100,000, while finishing second through fifth in the voting would net him $50,000.

In a related note, Colorado also finalized a guaranteed one-year contract worth $3.25 million with Kyle Farmer following the decision to not extend an offer to Brendan Rodgers. This move has left the former first-round draft choice as a free agent, currently still available on the market.
