STARKVILLE, Miss. — Jaxson Robinson achieved a personal best with 27 points as No. 6 Kentucky triumphed over No. 14 Mississippi State with a score of 95-90 in an exciting matchup on Saturday night.

Robinson’s shooting was impressive, making 7 of 10 attempts from beyond the arc and hitting 9 of 12 overall.

Teammate Otega Oweh contributed significantly with 15 points, while Andrew Carr added another 13. Ansley Almonor displayed a strong performance by scoring nine of his total 11 points during the second half. Additionally, Lamont Butler and Amari Williams both finished the game with 10 points, with Williams also recording a double-double by pulling down 12 rebounds and providing six assists.

On the other side, Cameron Matthews led the way for Mississippi State with a solid performance of 19 points, 10 rebounds, and six steals. Josh Hubbard contributed 15 points, and RJ Melendez followed up with 14 points of his own.

Mississippi State found themselves down by 14 points early in the second half but quickly responded with a 12-0 run, narrowing the score to 68-66. A 3-pointer from Claudell Harris with 8:17 remaining gave the Bulldogs an 80-78 lead; however, this would be the last time they would be ahead in the contest.

Hubbard managed a driving layup to trim the deficit to 91-90 with two minutes left, but unfortunately, the Bulldogs were unable to score again for the remainder of the game.

Moving forward, Kentucky has now secured victories over Mississippi State in their last 19 regular-season encounters, a streak that dates back to the 2008-09 season.

For Mississippi State, their unbeaten run was halted at eight games, marking their first loss since facing Butler on November 29. This defeat came after the Bulldogs had celebrated their first 2-0 start in the Southeastern Conference since 2017.

Both teams will be back on the court this Tuesday night, with the Wildcats set to host Texas A&M, while the Bulldogs travel to face Auburn.
