MOBILE, Ala. — In an impressive display, Elijah Ormiston led South Alabama to a 76-62 victory against Arkansas State on Thursday evening, contributing 22 points to the team’s effort.
Ormiston not only excelled offensively but also secured five rebounds for the Jaguars, who improved their record to 12-4 overall and 4-0 within the Sun Belt Conference. Alongside Ormiston, Myles Corey added 11 points while shooting 50% from the field, including one successful three-pointer out of four attempts. He also facilitated the offense with six assists. Judah Brown had an efficient outing as well, finishing the game with 11 points on just five attempts, hitting three of four from beyond the arc.
On the other side, the Red Wolves, who now hold an 11-5 record and 2-2 in conference play, saw their scoring leader Taryn Todd net 18 points. He was closely followed by Joseph Pinion, who made notable contributions with 17 points, collected nine rebounds, and tallied three steals. Terrance Ford Jr. rounded out the scoring for Arkansas State with 12 points and recorded two steals in the contest.
This matchup showcased the competitive spirit of both teams, with South Alabama taking a commanding lead in the Sun Belt standings while Arkansas State will look to bounce back in their upcoming games.
