Porter’s 17 points propel Liberty to victory against Sam Houston 76-68

HUNTSVILLE, Texas – In an exciting matchup on Thursday evening, Colin Porter led the Liberty Flames to a 76-68 victory over the Sam Houston Bearkats with a strong performance, scoring 17 points.

Porter also contributed significantly with five assists and three steals for Liberty, which improved to a record of 14-2 overall and 2-1 in Conference USA. Taelon Peter added 15 points to the Flames’ total, shooting 6 for 10 from the field and going 2 of 3 from the free-throw line. Jay Maughmer made his impact felt as well, hitting 4 of 9 attempts with three of those coming from long range to finish the game with 12 points.

On the opposing side, Lamar Wilkerson was impressive for the Bearkats, scoring 25 points while grabbing nine rebounds. Marcus Boykin supported the effort with a strong all-around performance, registering 16 points along with six rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Cameron Huefner rounded out the scoring for Sam Houston with nine points.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to return to action on Saturday. Liberty will travel to Louisiana Tech, while Sam Houston will host Florida International as they seek their first conference win.
