Poulin nets ‘Superwoman’ goal as Victoire triumphs over Sceptres 4-2 before 19,038 spectators in Vancouver

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — In an electrifying display of talent, Marie-Philip Poulin showcased her skills by scoring a remarkable “Superwoman” goal and later contributing an empty-net goal, leading the Montreal Victoire to a 4-2 victory over the Toronto Sceptres on Wednesday night. The match took place during the PWHL Takeover Tour, attracting a packed house of 19,038 fans at Rogers Arena.

Poulin’s standout moment came at 7:48 in the second period when she expertly controlled the puck while down on both knees, firing a shot past goaltender Kristen Campbell into the upper right corner of the net, which marked her team’s third goal. Her celebration saw her stretched across the ice, emphasizing the spectacular nature of her play.

Montreal’s win was bolstered by contributions from Mikyla Grant-Mentis, who scored on a breakaway and provided an assist, and Claire Dalton, who added another goal. Ann-Renée Desbiens was a wall in net, making 29 crucial saves to help solidify the Victoire’s position at the top of the league standings.

On the other side, Jesse Compher and Daryl Watts found the back of the net for the struggling Toronto team, with Campbell managing to stop 21 shots during the contest.

This match marked the second of nine events on the Takeover Tour, with attention drawn to the impressive attendance that outdid the Vancouver Canucks’ season-high record of 18,940 fans.

Looking ahead, the Sceptres are set to face off against New York this Sunday, while the Victoire will take on Minnesota in Denver on the same day.
