Providence, R.I. – In a decisive matchup on Wednesday evening, Bensley Joseph contributed significantly off the bench, scoring 18 points and guiding Providence to an impressive 84-65 triumph over Butler.

Joseph also recorded five rebounds for the Friars, who now stand at 8-8 with a 2-3 record in the Big East Conference. Apart from Joseph’s strong performance, Jayden Pierre also made his mark by going 7 of 16 from the field, including three successful three-point shots, culminating in another 18 points. For the Bulldogs, who are now 7-9 overall and struggling at 0-5 in the conference, Pierre Brooks emerged as the leading scorer with 17 points. Jahmyl Telfort matched that total with 17 points and added two steals to his performance, while Patrick McCaffery helped out with 12 points. This defeat marks Butler’s eighth consecutive loss.

By halftime, the score settled at 37-29, with Ryan Mela contributing eight points. During the second half, Providence outpaced Butler by an additional 11 points, largely thanks to Joseph, who picked up 13 of his points during this period.

Both teams are set for their next games on Saturday, with Providence facing off against Seton Hall at home, while Butler will take on Creighton on their own court.
