CEDAR FALLS, Iowa — In an exciting match on Wednesday night, Terence Harcum scored 14 points to lead Murray State to a narrow victory over Northern Iowa, finishing the game 71-68.
Harcum showcased his skills on the court, making 5 of 8 shots, including hitting 2 of 4 from long range. The Racers improved their record to 9-7 overall and 3-2 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Joining Harcum in the scoring effort was Jacobi Wood, who contributed 11 points. He tallied 3 baskets from 8 attempts, with 3 of those being successful from three-point territory, while also dishing out six assists and recording three steals. Alden Applewhite also made a significant impact, scoring 11 points without missing a shot, going 4 for 4 from the field and 3 for 3 from beyond the arc.
On the other side, the Panthers had a strong performance from Trey Campbell, who led the team with 17 points and collected three steals. His teammates also made contributions, with Tytan Anderson scoring 15 points while adding four assists and two steals, and Leon Bond III contributing 13 points to the effort.
The first half saw Murray State take a 33-27 lead over Northern Iowa. Wood was instrumental in this lead, scoring eight points during the first half, while Applewhite led the team with a total of 11 points for that period.
Both teams are set for their next matches on Saturday, with Murray State preparing to host Valparaiso and Northern Iowa gearing up for an away game against Illinois State.
