With this win, Florida State improves to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and has now secured victory over the Hurricanes in 14 of their last 15 encounters, a trend that began with a high-scoring matchup on January 27, 2018. This victory also marked a milestone for coach Leonard Hamilton, who notched his 193rd regular-season win in the ACC, surpassing former Maryland head coach Gary Williams for the fourth spot in conference history.

Conversely, Miami struggles continue as the team now sits at 4-11 and 0-4 in the conference, having endured 14 consecutive ACC losses since their last win against Virginia Tech on February 3, 2024. Additionally, the Hurricanes have not been able to secure a home victory against Florida State since January 7, 2018.

Bowen initiated a key 13-0 scoring run with two quick 3-pointers, helping Florida State establish a solid 39-23 lead. Despite not hitting any field goals in the final four minutes of the first half, the Seminoles managed to maintain a 39-25 advantage going into halftime.

In the second half, freshman Daquan Davis started strong by scoring the first seven points for Florida State, followed by Bowen adding eight points, including a pair of 3-pointers in succession, extending the lead to 54-39.

The Seminoles further extended their lead with an impressive 20-3 run, ultimately reaching a 76-53 cushion. This surge featured nine consecutive successful shots from Florida State while Miami experienced a scoring drought that lasted over six minutes.

Jamir Watkins contributed to Florida State’s efforts with 10 points of his own. For Miami, Matthew Cleveland was the standout performer, leading his team with 16 points, while teammate Paul Djobet added 13 points. Divine Ugochukwu managed to score six points in the first half before exiting the game due to an injury, and he did not return to the court.

Both teams will return to action on Saturday, with Florida State traveling to face Clemson and Miami hosting Wake Forest.
