CHICAGO — Bobby Dalbec, an infielder, has signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox and is set to join the major league spring training camp.

The 29-year-old player previously spent five seasons with the Boston Red Sox before becoming a free agent after being assigned to Triple-A Worcester on September 10. He made the decision to explore free agency on November 4.

Dalbec made his major league debut with the Red Sox on August 19, 2020, and had a notable season in 2021, where he achieved a batting average of .240, hitting 25 home runs, driving in 78 runs, but also recorded 156 strikeouts. However, his performance dipped in 2022, leading to a decrease in his playing time, as he ended the season with a .215 average, 12 homers, and 39 RBIs before being demoted back to the minors.

In 2023, Dalbec played 114 games for Worcester and followed that with another 97 games in 2024. During the 2024 major league season, he struggled, posting a .133 batting average with just one home run and eight RBIs across 37 games with the Red Sox.

Over the course of his career in the major leagues, Dalbec has accumulated a batting average of .222, with 47 home runs, 122 RBIs, and 384 strikeouts over 331 games played.
