SYDNEY โ€” In an impressive display of talent, Coco Gauff triumphed over Iga Swiatek, the second-ranked player, with a score of 6-4, 6-4 during the initial singles match of the United Cup mixed teams tennis event. The United States then secured the final victory by defeating Poland 2-0 on Sunday.

In the Ken Rosewall Arena, Taylor Fritz battled Hubert Hurkacz, winning the match with a score of 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (4), contributing to the American teamโ€™s success and marking their second United Cup title in just three years.

โ€œIโ€™m thrilled to win a team event, especially since itโ€™s the first team title Iโ€™ve ever claimed,โ€ expressed the third-ranked Gauff, brimming with excitement.

The 20-year-old athlete showcased outstanding performance throughout the tournament, achieving victories in all five of her singles matches without dropping a set. This success serves as a perfect precursor to the upcoming Australian Open scheduled for January 12.

Notably, Gauffโ€™s victory over Swiatek marks her second consecutive win against the Polish player, following her earlier triumph on her path to winning the WTA Finals in Riyadh last November.

โ€œI believe wholeheartedly that I belong among the best players globally, and when Iโ€™m playing well, Iโ€™m very tough to beat,โ€ Gauff asserted after her recent success.

Poland, despite their efforts, finished as the runner-up for the second year in a row, having similarly lost the previous edition to Germany.
