Pettway showcased his shooting prowess, connecting on 8 of 13 attempts from the floor, including 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, and maintaining perfect free throw shooting with 4 for 4. This win marks a significant turning point for the Panthers, improving their season record to 2-12 and giving them their first Southwestern Athletic Conference victory at 1-0. Braelon Bush also made a strong impact, scoring 17 points while dishing out six assists. Marcel Bryant added depth to the performance, finishing with 10 points after shooting 4 of 11, including 2 of 3 from three-point range, and contributing five blocks to the defensive efforts. This victory effectively snapped a frustrating 12-game losing streak for the Panthers.

On the opposing side, the Tigers from Grambling, now holding a record of 3-11 and 0-1 in the conference, found their top scorer in PJ Edwards, who tallied 15 points along with six rebounds.
