BALTIMORE — In an impressive matchup on Saturday night, Drayton Jones contributed significantly to South Carolina State’s 86-72 triumph over Morgan State.
Jones demonstrated his all-around game by scoring 20 points and grabbing six rebounds, helping the Bulldogs secure their first win in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) while improving their overall record to 7-9 and 1-0 in conference play.
Davion Everett also played a pivotal role in the victory, netting 18 points with an efficient shooting display, hitting 6 of 8 from the field and making 6 of 9 from the charity stripe. He complemented his scoring with eight rebounds.
Omar Croskey added to the Bulldogs’ offensive success by contributing 17 points, highlighted by a 6-for-9 shooting performance that included 2-for-4 from beyond the arc and 3-for-4 from the free-throw line.
For Morgan State, Kameron Hobbs stood out, leading the Bears with 22 points and contributing two steals. The Bears, whose record now stands at 6-11 and 0-1 in the MEAC, also saw solid performances from Daniel Akitoby and Will Thomas, who scored 12 and 11 points respectively, with Thomas adding four assists to his stat line.
