DREXEL DOWNS N.C. A&T IN COMPETITIVE CONTEST

In an exciting matchup on Saturday, Yame Butler delivered an impressive performance, scoring 24 points and leading Drexel to a 68-59 victory over North Carolina A&T. Butler also contributed significantly on the boards, pulling down five rebounds as part of his overall effort for the Dragons, who improved to a record of 9-6 and 1-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association.

Kobe Magee made notable contributions as well, finishing with nine points while connecting on three of his seven attempts from the field, which included a one-for-four rate from three-point territory. Additionally, he secured eight rebounds. Shane Blakeney also added nine points to the scoreboard, though he struggled with his shooting, finishing four for twelve overall and hitting just one of six attempts from beyond the arc.

On the other side, North Carolina A&T (4-12, 0-3) was led by Ryan Forrest, who notched 13 points along with three steals. Landon Glasper also played a valuable role, matching Forrest’s point total with another 13. Nikolaos Chitikoudis achieved a double-double, contributing 12 points and pulling down 12 rebounds for the Aggies.

At halftime, Drexel held a narrow lead of 34-33, with Butler being the standout player in the first period, scoring 13 of his 24 points. The turning point in the game occurred early in the second half when Magee sank a free throw just 39 seconds into the period, giving Drexel a lead they would maintain throughout the remainder of the contest at 36-35.

Both teams are set to return to action on Thursday, with Drexel traveling to Stony Brook while North Carolina A&T will host Delaware, aiming to rebound from this defeat.
