Brown scores 19 as UMKC defeats South Dakota 68-54

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — In a solid performance on Thursday night, Jamar Brown led the UMKC Kangaroos to a 68-54 win against South Dakota, recording an impressive 19 points.
He also contributed significantly on the boards, grabbing 11 rebounds, and helped his team defensively with three steals, helping the Kangaroos improve their record to 9-7 overall and 1-0 in the Summit League.

Cameron Faas was another standout for UMKC, scoring 17 points while showing versatility with a shooting line of 6 of 14, including 3 of 8 from beyond the arc. He also pulled down seven rebounds, proving himself as a valuable asset. Jayson Petty added to the scoring effort with 11 points, connecting on 4 of 9 attempts from the field and contributing two of those points from three-point territory.

On the other side, South Dakota’s Chase Forte was the leading scorer with 12 points and also dished out four assists. Paul Bruns chipped in with eight points and two steals, while Ashton Smith rounded out the Coyotes’ scoring with seven points. With both teams still holding a 9-7 overall record, South Dakota dropped to 0-1 in league play.

Looking ahead, both teams will take to the court again on Saturday. UMKC is set to host Oral Roberts, while South Dakota will be facing Denver at home in what promise to be exciting matchups.
