North Alabama triumphs 82-66 over Bellarmine to kick off ASUN play

Florence, Alabama – North Alabama kicked off their Atlantic Sun Conference season with an impressive 82-66 victory over Bellarmine on Thursday evening.

Daniel Ortiz led the charge for the Lions, contributing 26 points to the team’s success. His performance included shooting 9 for 18 from the field, with a remarkable 8 for 17 from three-point range. Taye Fields had a significant impact as well, netting 20 points on an efficient 9 of 13 shooting, alongside collecting eight rebounds. Jacari Lane added to the scoring with 13 points, converting 5 of 11 attempts, including 2 for 7 from long range.

The Knights struggled to keep pace, with Billy Smith leading their scoring efforts with 16 points. Jack Karasinski and Landin Hacker also chipped in, contributing 11 and 10 points, respectively.

Looking ahead, both teams are set to compete again on Saturday. North Alabama will take on Eastern Kentucky at home, while Bellarmine will hit the road to face Central Arkansas.
