WORCESTER, Mass. — On Thursday evening, Aidan Richard made a significant impact by scoring 18 points, leading the Holy Cross Crusaders to a narrow 74-72 triumph over Loyola (MD). Max Green clinched the win with a crucial jump shot that landed just 28 seconds before the final buzzer.

Richard demonstrated impressive shooting skills, converting 6 of 9 attempts from the field, including an outstanding 6 for 8 from beyond the arc, contributing to the Crusaders’ overall record of 9-5 and marking the start of their Patriot League campaign at 1-0. Green also had a notable night, scoring 17 points with a shooting performance of 6 for 14 from the field, and he notched 4 of 7 from the free-throw line. Additionally, he grabbed seven rebounds, while Caleb Kenney added 12 points on 6 of 9 shooting.

For the Loyola Greyhounds, who now hold a record of 5-7 and are 0-1 in conference play, Jordan Stiemke led the team with 19 points and seven rebounds. Braeden Speed contributed 15 points, and Milos Ilic had a well-rounded performance with 14 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists.

The first half saw Richard scoring 12 points, but the Crusaders entered halftime behind by a narrow margin, with a score of 36-33. In the second half, Green propelled the team forward with 15 points, including the decisive shot that secured their victory in the last minute of the game.
