CARBONDALE, Ill. — On Wednesday, Tayshawn Comer was instrumental in leading the Evansville Purple Aces to a 68-53 victory over the Southern Illinois Salukis, scoring an impressive 26 points during the game.
Comer also contributed defensively with three steals, helping Evansville improve their record to 5-9 overall and 2-1 in the Missouri Valley Conference. Cameron Haffner supported the team with 20 points and nearly secured a double-double by collecting nine rebounds.
For Southern Illinois, Kennard Davis was the standout performer, finishing the game with 19 points and 10 rebounds, demonstrating his ability to impact the game on both ends of the court. Ali Abdou Dibba provided additional support, scoring 12 points and making two steals.
In the first half, Comer was particularly effective, scoring 17 points and guiding Evansville to a 42-31 lead at halftime. The Purple Aces gained further momentum in the second half when they executed a decisive 9-0 scoring burst that pushed their advantage to 21 points. Comer continued to excel, leading his team with nine points in the latter half, solidifying their lead and ensuring a comfortable win.
