MINNEAPOLIS — On Sunday evening, the Minnesota Timberwolves made the decision to postpone their game against the San Antonio Spurs by one hour due to a problem with the court at Target Center.
The Timberwolves communicated this change approximately three hours before the initially planned tipoff. According to Timberwolves spokesperson Patrick Rees, the issue was identified by the Spurs during their morning shootaround, leading to the organization’s choice to delay the game. This allowed arena staff sufficient time to install a replacement court that had to be sourced from another location.
The Timberwolves have called Target Center their home venue since 1990, and this incident marks a notable deviation from their usual operations. The efforts taken to ensure the game could proceed highlighted the importance of venue readiness in professional sports.
