ALBANY, N.Y. — In a recent matchup, the Albany Great Danes defeated the Stony Brook Seawolves with a score of 77-70, thanks in large part to Justin Neely’s impressive performance off the bench, where he scored 16 points. Neely also contributed significantly on the boards, grabbing nine rebounds for Albany, who now holds a record of 8-7 for the season. Amar’e Marshall played a key role as well, adding 15 points to the scoreboard with an efficient shooting performance, including three pointers. Additionally, Kacper Klaczek scored 10 points, hitting four of his eight attempts, although he struggled with his three-point shooting and made two of three from the foul line.

For Stony Brook, Ben Wight emerged as the standout performer, recording 19 points along with seven rebounds. His efforts were complemented by Joseph Octave, who tallied 13 points and made a notable defensive contribution with five steals. Jared Frey also chipped in with 13 points, helping to keep Stony Brook competitive throughout the game.

Albany took command early in the game, seizing the lead just 30 seconds in and maintained it throughout. Marshall’s scoring proficiency in the first half was instrumental as he led the team with 10 points, allowing Albany to take a 36-31 advantage into halftime. In the second half, the Great Danes intensified their efforts, launching an 8-0 run that extended their lead to a sizable 19 points, 55-36, with just over 14 minutes left. They managed to sustain their lead until the final buzzer, concluding the game on a high note.

Looking ahead, Albany is set to face UMass-Lowell at home on Saturday, while Stony Brook will head to Monmouth for their next matchup on Thursday.
