DALLAS — In a commanding performance, Boopie Miller delivered a stellar 24-point outing, accompanied by seven assists, while Yohan Traoire registered a notable double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds, steering SMU to their seventh consecutive victory. The Mustangs concluded their nonconference schedule with a decisive 98-82 triumph against Longwood on Sunday.

The Mustangs (11-2) displayed impressive shooting precision throughout the game, finishing with an exceptional 62% from the field. They also excelled from beyond the arc, sinking 10 out of 20 attempts from three-point range, which marked their seventh win in the past eight matches at home.

Despite the loss, Longwood (11-4) managed to remain competitive by capitalizing on 20 turnovers from SMU, leading to 10 steals. Elijah Tucker’s jumper shrank the gap to seven points, 69-62, with 11:37 remaining. However, the Mustangs responded vigorously with a powerful 14-1 run, quickly extending their lead to 20 points.

Miller was particularly efficient, hitting 6 of his 7 field goal attempts, converting both three-point shots, and going 10 for 12 from the foul line. Traoire followed closely, shooting 7 of 10 overall, including 2 of 4 from deep, and hitting all four free throws. Additionally, Matt Cross contributed 19 points, while Chuck Harris came off the bench to add 12 points.

Leading the charge for Longwood was Tucker, who scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds. Coby Garland also made an impact, achieving a double-double with 19 points and 11 assists, while Emanuel Richards added 12 points in a bench role.

As SMU embarks on its first season in the Atlantic Coast Conference with a strong 2-0 start, they are set to face No. 4 Duke next Saturday. Longwood, on the other hand, will kick off Big South Conference play with a home matchup against Presbyterian this Thursday.
