EASTON, Pa. — In an exciting match on Sunday, Louie Semona came off the bench to lead Stonehill to a 70-65 victory against Lafayette, contributing a significant 15 points in the process.
Semona also made an impact on the boards, recording six rebounds for the Skyhawks, who improved their record to 8-7. Hermann Koffi added 13 points to the team’s tally, with an impressive shooting performance of 4 for 8, including 2 for 5 from beyond the arc, along with 3 free throws from 4 attempts. Josh Morgan matched Koffi’s scoring output, also netting 13 points. Morgan demonstrated his efficiency by shooting 4 for 9 overall, which included 1 for 3 on three-pointers, while remaining perfect from the charity stripe, hitting all four of his free throws.
On the other side of the court, Lafayette (5-8) saw Caleb Williams as their leading scorer with 15 points. Justin Vander Baan had a strong game as well, contributing 14 points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks, showcasing his all-around skill. Additionally, Alex Chaikin supported the team’s effort with 12 points, two steals, and two blocks.
The first half concluded with Stonehill holding a narrow lead of 28-27 over Lafayette. Semona was pivotal in this half, scoring seven points to help the Skyhawks maintain their advantage. The turning point came in the second half when Stonehill executed a crucial 7-0 run, overcoming a five-point deficit to establish a 47-45 lead with just over 11 minutes left in the game. Todd Brogna also made contributions in the second half, adding nine points to help secure the victory for his team.
