Elon, N.C. — In a decisive performance on Saturday evening, Nick Dorn contributed 29 points to help the Phoenix secure a 73-59 win over Marshall.
Dorn demonstrated his shooting proficiency, hitting 9 of 15 shots from the field, including 6 of 10 from beyond the arc, and completing 5 of 6 attempts from the free-throw line, leading the Phoenix to a record of 9-4.
Supporting him, Sam Sherry added 17 points along with 13 rebounds, while TJ Simpkins managed to score 13 points, despite a challenging night shooting as he only hit 5 of 19 shots, including missing all four of his three-point attempts.
On the other side, the Thundering Herd, now sporting a record of 7-7, saw Mikal Dawson shine with a game-high 24 points and six rebounds.
Obinna Anochili-Killen also made a notable contribution with 16 points and two blocks, while Wyatt Fricks chipped in with eight points of his own.
Elon took command of the game with 10:46 remaining in the first half and maintained their advantage throughout.
Dorn played a pivotal role in the first half, scoring 11 points and propelling the team to a halftime lead of 37-28.
In the second half, the Phoenix expanded their lead to as much as 63-46, thanks to a strong 9-1 scoring streak.
Dorn continued to dominate, netting another 18 points during the half to help seal the victory for Elon.
