LARAMIE, Wyo. — In a thrilling contest on Saturday evening, Wyoming triumphed over Nevada with a close score of 66-63, thanks in large part to Obi Agbim’s impressive 18-point performance.
Agbim showcased his skills by hitting 7 of 12 shots from the field, including four successful 3-pointers from a total of seven attempts, contributing significantly to the Cowboys’ record of 8-5 and an even 1-1 in the Mountain West Conference.
In addition to Agbim’s efforts, Touko Tainamo played a crucial role, scoring 15 points. He achieved this by making 3 of 6 attempts from the field, with two of those being 3-pointers, and he was exceptionally accurate from the free-throw line, going 7 for 8.
Dontaie Allen also contributed to the Cowboys’ score with a perfect 3-for-3 performance from beyond the arc, totaling nine points for the game.
For the Wolf Pack, Nick Davidson was a standout with 15 points, complemented by six rebounds and two blocked shots. His teammate Kobe Sanders matched his scoring total with 15 points and added three steals to the effort. Justin McBride also made a solid contribution with 11 points and three blocks.
In the first half, Agbim managed seven points, helping Wyoming to a narrow 26-24 lead at halftime. The Cowboys surged ahead in the second half with an 8-0 run, overcoming a three-point deficit to establish a 41-36 advantage with just over 12 minutes left on the clock. Tainamo dazzled in the latter half, racking up 13 additional points.
As the game neared its conclusion, Davidson had a chance to put Nevada ahead but missed a critical 3-pointer with just seven seconds remaining, leaving the score at 64-63. In the final moments, Tainamo sealed the victory for Wyoming by striking two free throws with only two seconds left on the clock.
