HAMPTON, Va. — Wayne Bristol Jr. delivered an impressive performance, scoring 18 points as Hampton triumphed over Howard with a final score of 83-67 in a game held on Saturday night.
Bristol not only showcased his scoring ability but also contributed five rebounds to help the Pirates improve to an 8-5 record. Teammate Noah Farrakhan added 17 points, shooting 4 out of 10 from the field, including a 3-point conversion, and went a perfect 8 for 8 from the free-throw line. He also recorded seven assists and three steals during the match. George Beale was another key player for Hampton, finishing the game with 13 points by hitting 5 of 11 attempts from the field, including 3 of 6 from beyond the arc.
On the opposing side, Blake Harper stood out for the Bison, scoring a remarkable 34 points, though Howard’s efforts resulted in a 5-8 overall record. Cameron Shockley-Okeke contributed 10 points while Marcus Dockery added nine points to the team total.
The turning point came when Hampton seized the lead with 8:55 left in the first half, maintaining control throughout the game. By halftime, the Pirates had established a 31-23 lead, bolstered by Daniel Johnson’s eight points. In the second half, Hampton expanded its advantage significantly with an 8-0 scoring run, transforming what was an eight-point lead into a solid 16-point lead. The team outpaced Howard in the second half, notably with Bristol netting a total of 14 points in that period alone.
Looking ahead, Hampton is set to face Charleston (SC) on the road Thursday, while Howard will make its journey to Yale on Wednesday.
