ST. PAUL, Minn. — In an exciting match on Saturday, the Montreal Victoire triumphed over the Minnesota Frost with a close score of 3-2, marking the first goals of the season for both Mariah Keopple and Alexandra Labelle.

The turning point of the game came nearly six minutes into the second period when Marie-Philip Poulin netted the game-winning goal. She capitalized on a 2-on-1 opportunity set up by Laura Stacey and Jennifer Gardiner. Despite struggling on the power play, going 0 for 3, Montreal (2-2-0-1) managed to secure their third consecutive victory while handing Minnesota (3-1-1-1) their first regulation loss of the season.

Initially, Montreal seemed to control the game, but they found themselves trailing 1-0 midway through the first period. Britta Curl-Salemme scored her third goal of the season following assists from Claire Thompson and Taylor Heise. However, the Victoire responded effectively in the closing minutes of the period—Keopple found the net thanks to a setup from Claire Dalton, while Labelle capitalized on a rebound after her initial shot.

Just a little over three minutes into the second period, Minnesota equalized as Brooke McQuigge scored her first goal during an intense scramble right in front of the Montreal goal. However, Montreal quickly regained the lead a few minutes later with Poulin’s second goal of the season. Ann-Renee Desbiens was solid in goal for the Victoire, making a total of 22 saves to preserve the lead.

On the other side, Maddie Rooney also recorded 22 saves for Minnesota, who managed to go 0-1 on their power play opportunities. Upcoming matchups include Boston facing Montreal on Monday, while the Frost will host Boston on Thursday.
