CLEVELAND — Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has been listed as doubtful for the upcoming game against the Cleveland Browns due to an ongoing hip injury.
This injury, which he initially sustained during a game against Houston on December 15, has impacted his practice participation throughout the week. Despite this setback, Tagovailoa completed that match and played last week in the Dolphins’ victory over San Francisco.
With the Dolphins clinging to slim playoff aspirations at 7-8, the team updated his status on Saturday, moving him from questionable to doubtful as they gear up to face the struggling Browns, who hold a record of 3-12.
Should Tagovailoa ultimately be unable to play, Tyler Huntley will take over as the starting quarterback. Huntley spent the training camp with the Browns, where he was brought on board as a free agent in March to serve as a backup behind Deshaun Watson.
He joined the Dolphins following Tagovailoa’s third reported concussion back in September and has since completed three starts for Miami, registering a record of 1-2 while throwing for 377 yards, one touchdown, and one interception during that span.
In addition, the Dolphins have activated quarterback Skylar Thompson to the roster, added wide receiver Erik Ezukanma from the practice squad, and placed cornerback Kendall Fuller on injured reserve, further reshaping their roster as they head into this crucial matchup.
