TORONTO — Blayre Turnbull and Jess Kondas both found the back of the net for the first time this season, helping the Toronto Sceptres secure a 4-2 victory against the Boston Fleet on Friday night.

Rookie goaltender Raygan Kirk achieved her maiden win in the Professional Women’s Hockey League, making 26 saves as the Sceptres ended a four-game losing streak.

Emma Woods extended Toronto’s lead to two goals with a rush score with 5:40 remaining, and Kali Flanagan added an empty-net score shortly after.

The Fleet’s Loren Gabel managed to get one past Kirk late in the second period, providing Boston with some momentum. Hannah Bilka found the net with just 65 seconds left in the game.

In terms of shots, Toronto held the advantage over Boston, outshooting them 30-28, while Aerin Frankel for Boston made 26 saves during the match.

The Sceptres took an initial 2-0 lead thanks to Turnbull’s power-play goal in the first period, before Kondas scored in the second.

Kondas made her debut in the PWHL after signing a 10-day contract from the reserve list, stepping in for Rylind MacKinnon who was serving a one-game suspension for an illegal check to the head.

Gabel scored on a power play to put Boston back in the game at 2-1, just a few minutes before the second intermission.
