ATLANTA — Jalen Johnson set a new career milestone by scoring 30 points, contributing significantly to the Atlanta Hawks’ dramatic comeback victory over the Chicago Bulls with a final score of 141-133 on Thursday night. After finding themselves down by 21 points late in the game, the Hawks exploded for 50 points in the fourth quarter to secure the win.
Atlanta was trailing 124-107 with just 6:23 left on the clock when they launched a remarkable 23-2 scoring spree, marking their first lead since the early moments of the game. Alongside Johnson’s impressive performance, Trae Young added 27 points, achieving the milestone of surpassing 11,000 career points, while also contributing 13 assists. This win marked the Hawks’ second consecutive victory.
For the Bulls, Zach LaVine led the scoring charts with a season-high of 37 points. Jevon Carter began the game explosively, netting 19 out of his total 26 points in the first quarter. Despite their strong shooting performance — hitting 54% (53 out of 98) of their shots from the field — Chicago suffered its third consecutive defeat.
In the opening quarter, the Bulls initially fell behind by seven points but turned the tables with an impressive 31-12 run, giving them a 33-21 advantage at the end of the period. They managed to maintain this lead until the closing moments of the game.
On the Hawks’ side, De’Andre Hunter also stood out with 25 points off the bench. This achievement marked the 13th straight game where he scored 15 or more points in a reserve role — a record streak for a bench player in the history of the franchise. Notably, six players from Atlanta finished in double figures during the game.
A pivotal moment came with just three minutes remaining when Young sunk a three-pointer to tie the game, the first time the score had been tied since the opening quarter, electrifying the home crowd. Moments later, Johnson capitalized on a steal, driving down the court and executing a dunk that put Atlanta in front.
In terms of statistics, the Bulls established a new franchise record by hitting 22 three-pointers, marking their 31st consecutive game where they have made at least 10 shots from beyond the arc.
Looking ahead, the Hawks are set to face the Miami Heat, while the Bulls will take on the Milwaukee Bucks, with both matchups scheduled for Saturday.
