The Foreign Ministry of Afghanistan expressed enthusiasm on Monday regarding the reopening of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Kabul, marking its first operational status since the Taliban regained control in 2021.
In a recent announcement via X, the Saudi Embassy in Kabul stated that it is resuming its activities, emphasizing the government’s commitment to offering all necessary services to the Afghan people.
Zia Ahmad Takal, a deputy spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry, remarked on the positive reception of the embassy’s reopening, stating, “We welcome the reopening of the Saudi Arabian Embassy in Kabul and assure them that the ministry will collaborate on all matters and prioritize their safety.”
He further expressed optimism towards enhancing the relationship and cooperation between Afghanistan and Saudi Arabia, anticipating that the reopening would be instrumental in addressing the issues and needs of Afghans currently residing in Saudi Arabia.
While no nation has formally acknowledged the Taliban as the legitimate government of Afghanistan, several countries maintain diplomatic interactions with the group, facilitating dialogue and cooperation in various areas.
