In a commanding performance, Dayan Nessah came off the bench to contribute 19 points, guiding George Washington to a decisive 102-62 victory over Virginia-Wise on Sunday.
Nessah displayed an impressive shooting percentage, hitting 8 of 9 shots and making 3 of 4 attempts from long range, helping his team improve to 11-2 this season. Alongside him, Rafael Castro was also impactful, scoring 14 points with 6 out of 8 shooting and adding two successful free throws, while contributing 14 rebounds to his team’s efforts. Darren Buchanan Jr. matched Castro’s scoring output with 14 points, shooting 5 of 10 from the field and converting 4 of 6 free throws.
On the opposing side, the Highland Cavaliers were led by Bradley Dean, who netted 17 points in the losing effort. Lav Cvetkovic added 14 points and recorded two steals, while Zy’Ever Wingfield contributed nine points, seven rebounds, and also made two steals.
George Washington established a lead with 19:17 remaining in the first half and maintained control throughout the game. By halftime, they were ahead 40-27, with Buchanan contributing significantly to the score by adding 12 points.
