MIAMI — In an exciting matchup, Dashon Gittens and Asim Jones each contributed 15 points to propel Florida International to a 75-69 win over IU Indianapolis on Saturday night.
Gittens not only scored but also secured five rebounds for the Panthers, who improved to a record of 5-7. Jones demonstrated an impressive performance from the field, making five of his eight attempts, including four successful free throws out of six. Vianney Salatchoum made an impact as well, scoring 12 points while shooting 3 of 7 overall and maintaining a perfect record at the free-throw line with 6 of 6. In addition, he recorded five rebounds and blocked four shots.
On the other side, Jarvis Walker was the standout player for the Jaguars, scoring 24 points and dishing out six assists to keep his team competitive as they fell to 4-9. Paul Zilinskas contributed 15 points along with two steals, and DeSean Goode added to the scoreboard with 11 points and two blocks.
The game had a challenging start for Florida International, who went into halftime facing a 43-28 deficit before rallying in the second half to secure the victory.
