Cedar City, Utah — On Saturday evening, Trenton McLaughlin showcased an impressive performance, scoring 26 points and helping Northern Arizona secure an 83-75 victory over Southern Utah.
In addition to his scoring, McLaughlin contributed with seven assists and four steals for the Lumberjacks, who improved to a record of 8-4. Jayden Jackson was another key player for Northern Arizona, hitting 9 of 13 shots from the field, including 2 of 3 attempts from beyond the arc, and finishing the game with 23 points after going a perfect 3 for 3 from the free-throw line. Carson Towt also made significant contributions, scoring 21 points with a shooting performance of 9 of 19 from the field and 3 of 8 from the charity stripe.
The Thunderbirds (8-6) were led by Jamir Simpson, who delivered a commendable performance, recording 20 points to go along with nine rebounds. Tavi Jackson added to the team’s tally with 16 points and two steals. Meanwhile, JT Langston Jr. rounded out the scoring for Southern Utah with 13 points.
This matchup highlighted the competitive nature of both teams, with Northern Arizona making the most of their opportunities to earn a crucial victory.
