MALIBU, Calif. — Dovydas Butka registered an impressive performance with 18 points as Pepperdine dominated UC Davis in an 85-46 victory on Saturday.
Butka also contributed significantly on the boards, securing 10 rebounds for the Waves, who now have a record of 6-7. Jaxon Olvera was another key player, scoring 15 points and making three steals. Stefan Todorovic added 11 points to the scoreboard, hitting 4 of his 10 attempts from the floor, although he struggled with his three-point shooting, connecting on just one of five attempts from beyond the arc.
For the Aggies, who fell to 7-5, Carl Daughtery Jr. was the top scorer with 11 points. Ty Johnson contributed with nine points and two steals, while Niko Rocak managed to add seven points to the total.
The Waves took control of the game early, claiming the lead just 20 seconds in and maintaining it throughout. Olvera was particularly impactful in the first half, scoring 11 points and helping the team build a substantial lead at halftime, 43-19. In the second half, Pepperdine intensified their offense with a commanding 13-0 run, increasing their lead from 29 to a staggering 42 points. Butka led the charge in the latter half, notching 10 points to help secure the 39-point victory.
Both teams are set to return to action next Saturday, with Pepperdine traveling to face Santa Clara and UC Davis hosting Cal Maritime at home.
