TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — In an impressive performance, Reyne Smith came off the bench to score 27 points, orchestrating a remarkable surge of three-pointers that led Louisville to a 90-76 triumph over Florida State on Saturday.

Smith demonstrated exceptional shooting, hitting 8 out of 12 attempts from the field, including an impressive 6 for 9 from beyond the arc, while also converting all five of his free throws. Terrence Edwards Jr. contributed significantly for the Cardinals with 19 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists.

The Cardinals delivered a spectacular showing from three-point range, making 10 of their 15 attempts in the second half alone, with Smith accounting for five of those. Overall, Louisville excelled by sinking 15 of 29 three-pointers, while Florida State managed 8 of 20.

Going into halftime, Louisville held a slim two-point lead, which they quickly extended at the start of the second half. A crucial 8-0 run pushed the Cardinals ahead to 59-50 with just over 15 minutes left, thanks to successful three-pointers from both Smith and Noah Waterman, who made the score 56-45 with 13 and a half minutes remaining.

Although Jamir Watkins hit a three-pointer that narrowed the gap to 62-58 for the Seminoles, Smith quickly responded with a pair of three-pointers, putting Louisville back up by 10 points. During a dominating stretch of 6 and a half minutes, every point for the Cardinals came from beyond the arc, with Smith accounting for four of those successful attempts.

Florida State managed to cut the deficit to six points a couple of times, but Smith’s final three-pointer with just under four minutes remaining established an 80-68 lead for the Cardinals. They maintained a lead of at least eight points for the duration of the game.

For Florida State (9-4, 0-2 ACC), Watkins was the top scorer with 25 points, showcasing his shooting with 4 for 6 from three-point territory. Malique Ewin supported the effort with 17 additional points.

For Louisville (7-5, 1-1), Chucky Hepburn recorded 16 points, while Waterman added 15. Together, Smith, Hepburn, and Waterman were pivotal in producing 13 out of the Cardinals’ 15 three-pointers.

Looking ahead, Louisville will host Eastern Kentucky next Saturday, while Florida State is set to face Syracuse on January 4.
