Nuna Baby Essentials has announced a recall involving approximately 609,000 child car seats due to a potential issue with the harness adjuster, which may not adequately secure children in the event of a crash.
The recall specifically targets certain models of Rava car seats equipped with a plastic harness adjuster button, manufactured between July 16, 2016, and October 25, 2023. The company has revealed that debris can infiltrate the front harness adjuster, causing it to loosen and potentially leading to increased injury risks during accidents.
To address this safety concern, Nuna plans to provide affected owners with a fix-it kit. This kit will include a new seat pad, guidance on how to clean the harness adjuster, and a screwdriver designed to assist in removing a plastic cover. However, officials have yet to announce a timeline for when notification letters will be sent to car seat owners.
This recall initiative follows the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA) decision to investigate the issue after receiving a public petition advocating for a recall in October.
