NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Bent Leuchten showcased an impressive performance, contributing 21 of his total 23 points in the second half as UC Irvine notched a notable 92-84 victory over Belmont on Thursday evening.
Leuchten was not only pivotal in scoring but also made an impact on the boards, collecting 15 rebounds for the Anteaters, who improved their record to 10-1. Justin Hohn also played a key role, scoring 19 points, and demonstrated his shooting skills by making 6 of 12 attempts overall, which included a remarkable 4 for 6 from beyond the arc and 3 for 4 at the free-throw line. Myles Che similarly contributed 18 points, shooting 7 of 13 overall, although he struggled with his 3-point shooting, going 0 for 3, but made all 4 of his free throws.
For Belmont, Carter Whitt led the scoring efforts with 25 points and dished out nine assists. Isaiah Walker also helped the Bruins with his 16 points, while Tyler Lundblade chipped in with 11 points. The defeat ended Belmont’s five-game winning streak, bringing their record to 9-3.
In the first half, Che managed to put up eight points, yet UC Irvine found themselves trailing at halftime with a score of 39-25, before launching a successful comeback in the latter half of the game.
