PHILADELPHIA — In an impressive showdown, Rasheer Fleming led the Saint Joseph’s Hawks to a commanding 84-57 win against the American Eagles on Wednesday evening.
Fleming showcased his skills by scoring 26 points and contributing significantly with 11 rebounds, four steals, and three blocks for the Hawks, who now hold a 7-4 record.
Teammate Erik Reynolds II also made a noteworthy impact, finishing with 23 points from 8 of 13 shooting, including 3 of 7 from beyond the arc, and a perfect 4 for 4 from the free-throw line. He also dished out six assists during the game. Another key player, Derek Simpson, added 15 points, shooting 4 of 7 from the field and converting all six attempts from the charity stripe.
On the other side, the Eagles, now at 6-5, were paced by Greg Jones, who scored 19 points while also grabbing six rebounds and securing five steals. Matt Rogers matched Jones’s scoring output with 19 points, and teammate Julen Iturbe contributed 11 points. Unfortunately for American, this defeat snapped their five-game winning streak.
Looking ahead, Saint Joseph’s is set to face Virginia Tech on Saturday, while the Eagles will be traveling to confront Virginia on Sunday.
