PGA Tour Champions – PNC Championship
The PNC Championship is taking place in Orlando, Florida, at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club. The course features a total yardage of 7,106 yards and is par 72. This year’s tournament offers a total prize purse of $1,085,000, with the winner set to receive $200,000.
Television coverage will occur on Saturday from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on the Golf Channel, followed by Peacock at 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. and then NBC from 4 to 6 p.m., all on a tape delay. Sunday’s coverage is scheduled to start at 11:30 a.m. on the Golf Channel, then transition to Peacock from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., and finish with NBC broadcasting from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
The tournament is highlighted by defending champions Bernhard and Jason Langer. This year marks the return of Tiger Woods, participating for the first time since he missed the cut at the British Open in July. Woods will team up with his son Charlie, continuing a tradition they have shared for five years.
The PNC Championship is sanctioned by the PGA Tour Champions, which permits players to utilize golf carts if desired. The format features 36 holes where major championship winners are paired with their family members. Among the notable participants are two LPGA major champions: Annika Sorenstam, who will play alongside her son Will, and Nelly Korda, who will team up with her father, former tennis Grand Slam champion Petr Korda.
Also joining the tournament are newcomers Fred Couples with his stepson Hunter Hannemann, and Trevor Immelman, who is competing with his son Jacob. Bernhard Langer looks to defend his title, having previously won three times with Jason and two times with his other son, Stefan. Additionally, Steve Stricker will compete alongside his daughter Izzi.
European Tour and Sunshine Tour – AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open
The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open will be held in Grand Baie, Mauritius, at the Mont Choisy Le Golf course, which stretches 7,051 yards and is also a par 72 layout. The tournament features a total prize pool of $1.5 million, with the winner receiving $250,000.
For television viewers, the Golf Channel will broadcast the tournament with coverage on Thursday and Friday from 3:30 to 8:30 a.m., Saturday from 4 to 8:30 a.m., and Sunday from 1 to 6 a.m.
Defending champion Louis Oosthuizen is set to play, and Johannes Veerman leads the Race to Dubai standings. Notably, this marks the final event of the calendar year for the European tour. Mauritius, located off the eastern coast of Africa, offers a scenic backdrop for this prestigious tournament.
This year’s field does not include any players from the top 100 in global rankings, with Antoine Rozner, last year’s winner in Mauritius, regarded as the highest-ranked player at position 145. The tournament has been part of the European tour schedule since 2015.
One of the unique participants this year is Christo Lambrecht, a former British Amateur champion who turned professional this summer and has experience on the Korn Ferry Tour. Marcus Kinhult will also compete after a disappointing finish, closing with a 74 after leading in the Alfred Dunhill Championship. Zimbabwe’s Kieran Vincent has also entered the field after unsuccessfully regaining his spot in the LIV Promotions event last week in Saudi Arabia. Nicolas Colsaerts is returning with regained tour status following a runner-up performance in the Dunhill Links in October.
The next tournament on the schedule is the Team Cup, set for January 10-12.
