SEATTLE — In a thrilling match on Sunday night, Romeo Doubs secured his second touchdown from quarterback Jordan Love, solidifying the Green Bay Packers’ victory with a score of 30-13 over the Seattle Seahawks. This win not only ended the Seahawks’ four-game winning streak but also brought the Packers closer to clinching a postseason spot.

Love showcased an impressive performance, throwing for 229 yards and two touchdown passes to Doubs. The standout moment came with just under five minutes left in the game, when Doubs made a spectacular catch despite being closely guarded by Seattle’s Devon Witherspoon, prompting fans at Lumen Field to chant “Go Pack Go!” in celebration.

“Earlier in the game, we felt we weren’t executing to our potential,” Love explained. “But finishing that drive with Romeo’s great catch was a relief and really boosted our confidence.”

In addition to Doubs’ heroics, Josh Jacobs contributed significantly with 94 rushing yards and a touchdown. Brandon McManus was also a crucial part of the victory, successfully kicking three field goals.

On the other side of the field, the Seahawks faced adversity after losing quarterback Geno Smith to a knee injury in the third quarter. He was struck low by Packers linebacker Edgerrin Cooper, leading to Smith lobbing his helmet in frustration as he limped off. Sam Howell took over at quarterback, having only one prior snap with the team this season.

Smith’s stats included completing 15 of 19 attempts for 149 yards and one interception, whereas Howell struggled, finishing with 5 completions on 14 attempts for just 24 yards and another interception. Green Bay’s recent performance has been strong as they’ve won eight of their last ten games, but with two losses against the division-leading Detroit Lions, hopes for the NFC North title appear slim for them this season.

“I really like our current position,” Love asserted. “We need to keep pushing each other to improve and strive for wins as we wrap up the season.”

With this loss, the Seahawks are now tied with the Los Angeles Rams for first place in the NFC West. The severity of Smith’s knee injury will be assessed with scans the following day, but Coach Mike Macdonald commented that the knee appeared structurally intact.

“We know our identity as a team and what goals we aim to achieve,” Seattle linebacker Ernest Jones IV stated. “Our focus remains on winning the division and securing a playoff spot.”

Love completed 20 of his 27 passes, while Doubs, who was returning from concussion protocol, made three catches totaling 40 yards. Smith faced tough moments in the game including an interception in the end zone, leading to a 20-3 deficit at halftime, as the Packers scored on every first-half possession.

The Packers’ scoring began with a 1-yard touchdown run from Jacobs, capitalizing on a penalty that placed them on the Seattle 28. They extended their lead to 14-0 when Love connected with Doubs for a 13-yard touchdown pass. Despite a 48-yard field goal from Jason Myers cutting the deficit, McManus responded with a field goal of his own to further cement the Packers’ lead.

An interception by Carrington Valentine in the end zone halted another Seahawks’ drive, marking Smith’s 13th interception of the season and the fourth thrown in the red zone. The Packers added a field goal by McManus just before halftime due to pass interference committed by Woolen on another Doubs play.

The Seahawks sparked some hope early in the fourth quarter thanks to a 24-yard touchdown run by Zach Charbonnet, narrowing the score to 23-13. However, Doubs quickly dashed those hopes with a 22-yard touchdown catch, sealing the game.

This marked the Packers’ first trip to Lumen Field since 2018, where they hadn’t secured a victory since 2008. Both Coach Matt LaFleur and Love were pleasantly surprised by the volume of support from Packers fans in attendance.

“This venue is always challenging due to its noise level, but I was amazed to hear our fans so clearly during defensive plays—it definitely helped our performance,” LaFleur mentioned.

Injury updates showed the Packers lost linebacker Quay Walker to an ankle issue in the first half, while star cornerback Jaire Alexander remained inactive for the fourth consecutive game. On the Seahawks side, running back Kenneth Walker III was not on the field, and center Olu Oluwatimi sustained a knee injury.

Looking ahead, the Packers are scheduled to host New Orleans on December 23, while the Seahawks will face Minnesota at home next Sunday, with the Vikings clinching a playoff spot following Seattle’s loss.
