LONDON — On Sunday afternoon, Edinburgh Airport experienced a shutdown due to an unidentified IT problem, leading to significant inconvenience for travelers at the beginning of the hectic holiday travel period.
All flights to and from Scotland’s largest airport were halted around 4:15 p.m. local time, prompting some inbound flights to reroute to Glasgow Airport, which is situated approximately 50 miles away.
The airport reported that engineers were actively working to rectify the issue.
In a statement, the airport advised passengers to verify their flight status with their respective airlines before heading to the airport.
