CLOVIS, N.M. — Tragically, an overnight house fire south of Clovis resulted in the deaths of three young children. Meanwhile, five others were able to escape and are currently receiving medical care at a hospital in Texas, according to officials on Sunday.
According to investigators from Curry County, emergency services were called to the scene at around 2:30 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a modified single-wide trailer completely consumed by flames.
The three deceased children, aged 3, 5, and 11, were unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
The Clovis Fire Department reported that three adults along with two other children managed to escape the burning home before responders arrived. These survivors were subsequently transported to a medical facility in Lubbock for further treatment.
Authorities indicated that both the county sheriff’s office and the New Mexico State Fire Marshall’s Office are looking into the incident’s cause to determine what led to this devastating fire.
Clovis is situated in the eastern part of New Mexico.
