A sixteen-year-old male has been taken into custody regarding the tragic shooting deaths of four family members in a rural region of New Mexico, authorities confirmed on Sunday.
According to the State Police, the victims were discovered with gunshot wounds at their residence in Valencia County during the early hours of Saturday.
The identity of the minor is being kept confidential, as he is considered a juvenile. Police spokesperson Ray Wilson mentioned that at the time of the incident, the boy appeared to be heavily intoxicated and was subsequently taken to a hospital for medical detox.
Once he is released from the hospital, the teen is expected to be placed in a juvenile detention facility and will face four counts of murder. Wilson noted that the medical examiner’s office is still working on identifying the deceased individuals.
