ST. JOSEPH, Mo. — In a commanding display, Ayoka Lee contributed 16 points and blocked four shots as the 13th-ranked Kansas State Wildcats overwhelmed Middle Tennessee, finishing with a 74-48 victory during the second iteration of the Bill Snyder Classic on Saturday night.

Lee demonstrated her scoring prowess by making 4 of 5 field goal attempts and converting 8 of 12 from the charity stripe, playing a pivotal role in extending the Wildcats’ winning streak to six games, bringing their overall record to 11-1.

Jaelyn Glenn also shone for Kansas State, netting 15 points with a strong performance from beyond the arc, going 5 for 9 on 3-point shots. She also contributed three steals. Temira Poindexter added 15 points along with six rebounds, while Taryn Sides provided valuable support off the bench with eight points, including two 3-pointers, and has hit 26 of her last 38 attempts from long range.

Jalyn Gregory led the Blue Raiders with 18 points but faced challenges alongside her teammates, as Middle Tennessee (now 7-4) has stumbled in three of their last four games. Anastasliia Boldyreva managed to score 12 points, albeit with only 5 out of 22 shots hitting the mark, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Ta’Mia Scott contributed 10 points and eight rebounds as well.

The second half began with Lee making two free throws and Poindexter scoring a 3-pointer, allowing the Wildcats to take an early 30-26 lead. However, back-to-back baskets from Boldyreva and Scott pushed Middle Tennessee ahead 31-30. The momentum quickly shifted back to Kansas State as Lee had two baskets in an 11-0 run complemented by a 3-pointer from Sides, which gave them a 10-point lead that they maintained for the remainder of the game.

In the first quarter, Gregory opened scoring by netting the initial eight points for Middle Tennessee and later added a 3-pointer that helped her team to a 15-13 lead by the end of the quarter. Glenn’s 3-pointer, which came with 56 seconds left in the first half, was the last basket before halftime, leaving Kansas State trailing by just one point at 26-25.

Looking ahead, Kansas State is set to host New Mexico State on Wednesday, while Middle Tennessee will make the trip to take on California Baptist on Tuesday.
